The name Giang Jo is very interesting.
I have been passionate about yo-yo since I started middle school. My friends and relatives used to call me Giang Yo, so I took it as my stage name.
When did Giang start pursuing the path of illustration?
The person who brought me closer to art was my grandfather.
I came to the art of illustration probably largely thanks to the support of young people who love Vietnamese culture like me. My initially very naive ideas were responded to by everyone and that’s why.

Giang’s works always contain many Vietnamese cultural elements.
I love Vietnamese history, but there are many ancient cultures and customs that I don’t know or fully understand, so I started researching and learning. The deeper I go, the more open and creative I find.

How does the process of creating a work of Giang usually take place?
Because most of my works have elements of national traditions, before starting to sketch ideas in my head, I spend a lot of time researching.
How long does Giang usually take to complete one of his works?
Sometimes it takes about 1 or 2 months, but sometimes it only takes 1 or 2 days to complete a work.

Can Giang share with ELLE readers which artists you often follow on social networking platforms?
My current style is not influenced by any artist in the illustration world.
Which of your projects does Giang feel most excited about?
Currently, the project that I am most interested in is `Hash Sau`.
Is Giang preparing for any upcoming projects?
I don’t have a specific plan for any project, I’m just trying to explore and learn more new materials to serve illustration such as: Watercolor, goauche, or wood carving… to enrich it.
